The Complete Document Checklist for University Admission in India
Document rejection is one of the most preventable — and most common — reasons a university application gets delayed. Almost none of these issues are about eligibility; they're about formatting, naming inconsistencies, or missing attestations.
Core documents every applicant needs
10th and 12th mark sheets and pass certificates, transfer certificate (TC), migration certificate (for inter-board or inter-university moves), character/conduct certificate from your last institution, passport-size photographs on a white background, and a government-issued ID proof (Aadhaar, passport, or voter ID).
Name consistency matters more than people realize
If your name is spelled differently across your Aadhaar, 10th certificate, and 12th certificate — even a single letter — many universities will flag the application for manual review, adding days or weeks. Cross-check spelling, initials, and surname order across every document before submission.
Category and income certificates have shelf lives
EWS, OBC-NCL, and income certificates are typically valid for only one year from issue date. If yours is older, get it renewed before applying — an expired certificate is treated as no certificate at all for scholarship purposes.
Gap year? Have an explanation letter ready
If there's a gap between your 12th grade and your application, most universities will ask for a signed gap-year affidavit or explanation letter. Preparing this in advance — rather than scrambling for it after a query — keeps your application moving.
Our document verification team checks every certificate against the specific requirements of your shortlisted universities before submission, catching naming mismatches, expired certificates, and missing attestations well before they can cause a delay.
